Electron’s ZK Light Clients will Strengthen Hashi

Across the cross-chain bridges, a significant challenge has always emerged large — our reliance on trusting a critical piece of information- Block Headers.
Block Headers play a crucial role in determining whether a particular transaction has been successfully mined on another chain. The correctness of this information is vital for the liveness and security of ALL cross-chain transactions.
What is Hashi?
With over $11.138 billion in TVL (source) at stake, the cross-chain bridges face high risks tied to the centralized approach to receive Block Headers data. This is where Hashi comes into play.
Hashi is designed to address this issue by aggregating EVM Hash Oracles and providing a new decentralized approach to cross-chain bridge security. Hashi abstracts the Block Header layer from the bridge architecture so that bridges don’t have to manage their own Block Header oracles. Instead, they can relay this information from the Hashi aggregator. When there is a conflict between Oracles, a governance setup can be employed to resolve these issues. The key advantage of using Hashi is that it eliminates the need to place trust in a single source of data for fetching Block Headers.
A ZK Oracle For Hashi
Electron is contributing to this vision by integrating its ZK Light Client into Hashi, it’s the same technology that powers Electron ZK Bridge. This will enhance security of the bridge infrastructure, making it more robust, resilient for cross-chain transactions and harder to manipulate Block Header data.
This integration enables the zero-knowledge proofs to send/receive Block Headers data without putting trust into anyone, thereby strengthening the overall security of all cross-chain transactions. With Electron’s ZK Light Clients at the core, users can have increased confidence in the validity of transactions through bridges.
Collaboration with GnosisDAO
Working hand in hand with the Hashi and Gnosis DAO teams for integration, Electron will be extending its ZK Light Clients to provide Block Header data to Hashi’s AMB in a trustless manner. The collaboration represents a collective effort to elevate the standards of decentralization across chain infrastructure and we are very excited to work with them.
